If you have used Kodi for a long time, you probably have at least heard of the legendary add-on Genesis. You might have even been one of its long-time users. It had a great reputation for being what was arguably the best add-on for Kodi. But unfortunately, Genesis was shut down, along with several other add-ons of great reputation like Elysium or Exodus.
But don’t lament because Genesis has been revitalized and revamped for a new era. Genesis has recently received a new title: Genesis Reborn. It is now available for Kodi 17.6 Krypton and Jarvis builds.
This guide is for Kodi used on various platforms: PC, Mac, Android, Raspberry Pi and even Amazon Fire Stick. It works with them all with zero issues. Any problems you may run into can be described below in the comments section.
A Short PSA about Security
You should always be aware that when using streaming services such as Kodi add-ons or builds, everything you stream will be visible to your Internet Service Provider – your ISP – and by extension your government. What this boils down to is that viewing content that is officially copyrighted could get you into trouble.
To protect yourself against this, the best recommendation we have is to acquire a Virtual Private Network – a VPN. This will protect your identity and keep you totally anonymous when streaming copyrighted content.
ExpressVPN is one of the best, fastest and most secure VPNs out there. You can easily sign up for it and get a free trial lasting 30 days with a money back guarantee. We do not endorse breaking the law and committing copyright infringement by any means, but it can sometimes be difficult to discern material’s legal standing.
Anyway, with that out of the way let’s continue.
How to Download and Configure Genesis Reborn for Kodi (PC and Firestick)
All users who have Kodi 17.6 Krypton edition and Jarvis edition can use the following guide equally. This step by step guide easily shows you precisely what to do and is very simple to follow. This guide is for PC users, Mac users and Fire Stick users.
(Note: Jesusboxrepo is not functioning right now, so we will update the new working repo as a result. You can still install Genesis Reborn add-on from the Kodi repo. Those relevant installation steps have been added into this guide immediately following the steps for Jesusboxrepo.)
Step 1: Turn Kodi on and from the main homepage click on the Settings Icon. It resembles a metal cog or gear in the top left hand corner of the screen.
Step 2: In the newly popped up Settings menu, click on System Settings, then on Add-ons. Now turn on the Unknown Sources option from the right hand side by toggling the switch.
Step 3: A warning box will pop up. Don’t be alarmed as this is normal. Click on Yes and then return to the Kodi Homescreen.
Step 4: Click on Settings icon once more much like in Step 1.
Step 5: Once you’re back at the Settings Menu page, click on File Manager, then click on Add Source.
Step 6: Click on None.
Step 7: The word “None” should disappear allowing you to add something new into the text box. Type in or copy-paste this: http://jesusboxrepo.xyz/repo/.
Step 8: You must now give a name to this media source. Simply title it something like “jesus” so that we can easily remember it for later, then click on OK to save your changes.
Step 9: Head on back over to the Kodi homepage. Click on the Add-ons option. Now click on Package Installer from the top left corner of your screen. It is the icon that looks like an opened up cardboard box.
Step 10: On the next menu that appears click on Install from .zip file and then click on jesus (or whatever name you used back in Step 8) from the new menu page that spawns.
Step 11: From the next pop-up screen of options, click on “repository.jesusboxtv-1.0.3.zip”. Note that this version number might be slightly different due to various possible future updates, but it should still work even if the numbers at the end are slightly different.
Step 12: Wait for the notification saying that Jesusbox Repository add-on was installed. It should appear in the top right hand corner after a few seconds.
Step 13: Much like from step 10, go back to the package installer menu, but instead of clicking on “install from .zip file” now click on “install from repository” which should be right above the older option.
Step 14: Select Jesusbox Repository from the next page.
Step 15: Click on Video add-ons from the next menu, then click on Genesis Reborn. Now click on the install option.
Step 16: Once you have clicked on Install, soon you shall see a “Genesis Reborn Add-on Installed” notification from the top right hand side corner of your screen.
Step 17: Final step: go back to your Kodi home page and click on “add-ons” and you will see the Genesis Reborn add-on thumbnail. This verifies that you have successfully downloaded and installed the application. That’s all, now enjoy yourself.
Installing Genesis for Kodi 17.6
It is also quite possible to download and configure the original Genesis Kodi add-on from a different source, the Kodil repo instead of the Jesusbox one. This guide was tested with Kodi 17.6. Krypton edition, but it should also work perfectly well for the older Jarvis build.
Remember to always use a VPN when streaming, even when using a different add-on build of Genesis.
Here are the installation steps:
Step 1: Launch Kodi as you normally do. Go to Kodi Settings, and then File Manager.
Step 2: Click on Add Source, then click on None.
Step 3: This will reveal an address bar. Type in “http://kdil.co/repo” (without the quotation marks, of course) and then type in “repo” in the name field and remember this for later. Click on OK to save your settings.
Step 4: Return to the Kodi main homepage hub. Click on “add-ons” in the menu on the left sidebar.
Step 5: Now click on Package Installer, the icon shaped like an opened cardboard box.
Step 6: Open up a new menu by clicking on Install from zip file. Then click on “repo“, then click on kodil.zip
Step 7: You have just begun downloading a small bundle of files. Wait for the notification to pop up in the right hand side and top corner of your screen. It should read: www.kodisrael.co.il Repo Add-on has finished installing.
Step 8: Click on “install from repository”. Then click on Kodil Repository, then click on Video Add-ons.
Step 9: Navigate down from the long list to “Genesis”. This list off apps and add-ons is in alphabetical order so it will be easy to find as long as you head down to the G section.
Step 10: Once you click on Genesis, click on the install option. Now wait for the download and installation to complete by receiving the notification once again.
Step 11: Final step: return to the homepage once you receive the notification. Click on Add-ons, then click on Video Add-ons. The Genesis icon will be there. Congratulations, and enjoy yourself.
In case you encounter any lag or buffering problems you can always try installing Real-Debrid for Kodi 17.6 to increase both your download speed and the amount of streams you can find per program or movie.
